Committee Chairman: Bernardo Cortese
Dr. Bernardo Cortese is a Cardiologist from Milan, Italy. After his classical studies, he obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery and a specialization in Cardiology at the University of Pisa and then a Master’s degree in Interventional Cardiology at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. He moved to the Lombard capital to pursue his profession as a cardiologist, and has devoted special attention to interventional cardiology. In recent years he has been a pioneer in some areas of this discipline, and his studies and research have been a major boost to the improvement of clinical practice. He is an international opinion leader of the drug-eluting balloon (medicated balloon), and has also developed research in the field of resorbable scaffold (stent), antithrombotic drugs, complex angioplasty, and intravascular imaging (OCT).
Dr. Cortese has always been dedicated to minimally invasive interventions with minimal impact on the most fragile patients. He has served or serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Milan and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa (Master’s degree). He serves as faculty or course director of major international congresses in interventional cardiology and has published more than 320 “peer reviewed” papers in English indexed on Pubmed.
